Nice lens. I haven’t had the opportunity to use the lens as much as I would like so far. But the one time I did put Canon EF 50mm f1.8 to the test so far, it performed beautifully and as advertised. I know i will make great use of this lens as I use it more.

very good sharpness but no built quality. this lens with no canon markings on it would make you think that it isn’t, but it has Canon’s name on it.

Mine is made in Malaysia, the body is plastic, the focusing ring is very small and AF makes a lot of noise, not good for weddings in the church.

For students and people who want to learn photography, this might be a good lens for you since its sharpness is just great, but if you’re willing to spend more for the 1.4 or 1.2 F lenses, they offer more quality but for more money as well.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 Mark I metal mount EOS is not available anymore, this one has the metal mount and a range indicator too that came with the Canon’s 1 series.

Try looking around, this might also be a good lens for you if you happen to find one.

All I gotta say is WOW. This is the best bang for your buck period. This low priced lens should be in every portrait photographers collection. This bad boy is fast and takes beautifull , professional looking pictures. The only thing I dont like about this lens is that its made out of plastic. But since it seems like its built to last , Im not worried about it. Great lens. Great price.
