If you have a PS3 and a plasma over 32″ and appreciate HD you will be sickened by the Wii. The graphics are tragically horrid. The lack of response in the controllers compared to other gaming system is also not an appreciated attribute. That said, if you are considering this for your 5 year old or you really like to be active this is the system for you! The games that involve activity just don’t exist outside the Wii in the same manner so for that fact alone it’s worth the purchase if you want to move around. If you seek aesthetics and rapid response stick with XBox 360 or Playstation 3.

Everyone knows the plot summary of Twilight, and if you don’t you’ve been living under a rock. I’m not going to waste a lot of time explaining it for that reason, so let me just briefly say that it’s a romance novel about a girl and her vampire boyfriend. Drama ensues.

I finally got around to reading this after only every single one of my friends told me it was the best thing they’ve ever read. When a whole lot of people speak so highly of a particular novel, that normally means it’s vastly overrated. So, I was a bit skeptical. I saw the movie version before I read the book, and I thought it was ridiculous. Still, my friend kept advising me to give the book a chance. I normally like to read whatever is popular at the moment so I can discuss it when it comes up in conversation, plus it happened to be on the shelf at the library when I went in (for the first time in a good year or two there was no waiting list), so I thought “why not”.

Let me start by saying, it’s actually not as god awful as I thought it would be. It wasn’t even that terrible. There are certain parts of the book that are even enjoyable. As long as you understand that this is just a light fluffy teen novel, and try not to over analyze it, it’s really not as bad as many literary snobs make it out to be. This was most definitely written for a specific demographic. I can definitely see why young girls love this book, and if I was a 13 year old girl again, I would probably love it too. That being said, it is packed with high school drama, and the maturity level of the characters are extremely low. If you are out of high school, and no longer think like that, it’s likely that you’ll find a lot of the book really annoying. I found it a little amusing though. Maybe it’s because it’s been less than ten years since I was in high school, and I still remember when I was as stupid as the characters in Twilight, but I kind of enjoyed that aspect of it. My Garmin 265WT portable GPS unit arrived last month. Included with it was the window-shield suction mount. I tried it and it worked OK. It was a stable mount, but somewhat of a security pain-in-the-neck. Since security is an issue nowadays with portable GPS units, I had to remove the suction mount from the windwhield in order to hide it away each time I exited my car. Then, I had to re-attach it to the windshield again upon re-entering. I subsequently searched the Internet for alternative mounting devices. Nearly every user product review recommended the portable friction mount because of its ease of use and stability. I purchased one, and have been using it ever since. It has great stability due to its lockable “bean-bag” base, and I am able to install/uninstall it in seconds. It definitely is the way to go.
