I didn’t know what to except. Water for Elephants is a great Novel. I have laughed out loud, felt like crying, and been amazed! I feel that this book is well written, and a good read. If you have ever been to the circus, had a relative that is elderly, or fell in love, you have something in common with the story. Animal lovers will have a tough time reading some parts of this book. I love animals and it is often tough to learn how many animals were cared for, or not cared for. You will love the people in the story, and at time you will be mad as hell at them. I felt that I was on the train with Marlena and Jacob. I felt their pain and joys. In The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield, a teenage boy who has been kicked out of numerous schools, tells of the days leading up to his confinement in a mental hospital. Throughout these three days, Holden wanders New York city in a mostly drunken state. The only person he is able to connect with is his younger sister Phoebe though he spends one night with a hooker and one with a past professor who he admired (until the professor made a sexual pass).

It is no wonder that Catcher in the Rye is one of the most popular books of all time. Written in streaming consciousness it is nearly impossible to not understand Holden and teenage angst. Every young man I have ever met fits into Caulfield’s persona for at least some point in their life.

I had this spatula less than a year and it broke between the spatula head and the neck. I had one other red kitchenAid spatuala and it broke too, but it broke at the insertion of the silver ring. So it broke in half. I was not doing anything unusual. My cheap ugly spatulas are still going strong after 7 years.

In the Twilight series, Stephenie Meyer has created a modern day, fantasy Romeo and Juliet with a enchanting twist that makes your heart melt. The first book, Twilight, starts out the saga with Edward and Bella meeting and falling in love. Amidst the romantic love story between a vampire and a human, there is drama and action. Bella also unwillingly becomes the love interest of one of her classmates and an American Indian (who later becomes a werewolf). But that’s the least of her worries as three visiting vampires suddenly take a special interest in her, and not in a good way. As Edward’s love for Bella grows, being a vampire isn’t the only worry he has. He and his family, who lovingly take the young human in, must battle these three vampires and save Bella’s life. Stephenie is very creative in her descriptions of the vampires as well as making them each unique. The story ends with Bella making the decision that she wants to become a vampire, tormenting Edward who cannot live with the idea of condemning her to his fate.

The present-day idea of love is that it can only last if there’s an immediate sexual relationship, especially when it comes to teenage love. Stephenie manages to show that love can exist regardless. This book is captivating and untainted by movies’ portrayal of love and sex being conjoint. If you’re a sucker for a real love story, Twilight is a great read.
