Garmin GPS Nuvi 260

I got the Ram mount for my Garmin Nuvi and absolutely love it. It is very high quality for very little money. Frankly it looks and feels like it should cost much more than it does. I like the fact that it comes with a piece to keep the handlebars from getting scratched.

I must say I was not impressed by this scale. I tried for over an hour to get this thing to do more than say, “0.0″ *3 seconds later* C *shuts off*

I could NOT get this thing to function. I love the look and feel of the scale and I hate that it didn’t work out for me.

2 stars because the look is exactly what I was looking for, nearly kept the thing as a shiny paperweight, but I need a scale that functions.

I don’t get it either. Seriously? I honestly cannot believe how much has become of what is really the rudimentary writing of an empty story. It’s got no meat. The characters are hollow, almost caricatures. Just goes to show that the masses really are asses.

In this funny thought-provoking story, a rich boy-genius criminal mastermind takes on the fairy world, but this is not the fairy world we often think about. This is a high-tech group of races that live deep underground. At stake is a staggering amount of gold. Now, Artemis is amoral, but seems to become distinctly evil by the end of this novel, adding tension to this novel.

Though this is written for young teens and preteens, older fans of young evil geniuses will enjoy this and will sometimes ponder it.

A cipher runs the length of the book for those codebreakers who want to tackle it. Fortunately, its solution is not needed for understanding the story. The cipher has a very tiny twist that makes it interesting.

Artemis Fowl (available in several editions) is part of a series that continues with a variety of adventures & characters. In these we see Artemis embrace his evil nature and resist his evil nature. We also see some girls get involved in the action. The first three novels in this series can be found in Artemis Fowl: The Criminal Mastermind Collection (paperback). The series should be read in order.

Parental concerns: There are a few things parents might want to consider. Consideration is not a bad thing. Remember, by checking out the book, you get to read it first; it is pretty funny. For my part, I found the series OK for my son. I was not so sure for me. The hero is an evil criminal mastermind, in a child-like sense. Should I be hanging out with a criminal mastermind? Also, in the battle between Artemis and his fairy enemy Holly, I wanted both to win. I don’t think this is a relativistic view of right and wrong, though; Artemis is wrong. So, how come I wanted Artemis to win? I do like him. And the dwarf’s method of digging tunnels is so alimentary, sometimes with explosive results at the, uh, exhaust end! When my last GPS mount (Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad) lost its stickiness and began to slide around the dash like a puck on ice I bought this to replace it.

It’s lighter than the Bracketron mount and the bottom didn’t feel particularly grippy so I was skeptical that it would work that well. I was wrong…it’s extremely stable and doesn’t move during hard cornering. As an added bonus, I don’t need to use the suction cup mount (as I did with my previous dash pad). From time to time (hot days usually) the suction would fail and I’d have to re-seat the mount on the pad. My Nuvi fits on it perfectly (as it should…both products are from Garmin) and I can easily adjust the screen to a good viewing angle.

Even though the price dropped since I purchased it a few weeks ago I think it’s still priced too high for what you get (it’s 2.5x more expensive than my previous one). You definitely won’t be disappointed in the product itself, just what you get for your money.
