In this funny thought-provoking story, a rich boy-genius criminal mastermind takes on the fairy world, but this is not the fairy world we often think about. This is a high-tech group of races that live deep underground. At stake is a staggering amount of gold. Now, Artemis is amoral, but seems to become distinctly evil by the end of this novel, adding tension to this novel.

Though this is written for young teens and preteens, older fans of young evil geniuses will enjoy this and will sometimes ponder it.

A cipher runs the length of the book for those codebreakers who want to tackle it. Fortunately, its solution is not needed for understanding the story. The cipher has a very tiny twist that makes it interesting.

Artemis Fowl (available in several editions) is part of a series that continues with a variety of adventures & characters. In these we see Artemis embrace his evil nature and resist his evil nature. We also see some girls get involved in the action. The first three novels in this series can be found in Artemis Fowl: The Criminal Mastermind Collection (paperback). The series should be read in order.

Parental concerns: There are a few things parents might want to consider. Consideration is not a bad thing. Remember, by checking out the book, you get to read it first; it is pretty funny. For my part, I found the series OK for my son. I was not so sure for me. The hero is an evil criminal mastermind, in a child-like sense. Should I be hanging out with a criminal mastermind? Also, in the battle between Artemis and his fairy enemy Holly, I wanted both to win. I don’t think this is a relativistic view of right and wrong, though; Artemis is wrong. So, how come I wanted Artemis to win? I do like him. And the dwarf’s method of digging tunnels is so alimentary, sometimes with explosive results at the, uh, exhaust end! Never leave home without it! Makes reading in any type of light, even direct sun light, a pleasure. No glare! With the right case, the Kindle can be used hands free (except to turn the page), while eating, folding laundry etc. Sure have been able to increase the amount of reading I can do each day by multitasking. The adjustable font size is a great feature too. Books are easy to download – less than 1 min. to complete. Very easy to transport anywhere. Would never want to be without it.

at first i had no interest in the twilight series; but as soon as i started them i couldnt stop reading. loved all the books. for anyone out there who is hesitant to read this because its about vampires dont let that stop you. the story line is captivating!

I brush my dog 2 times a week for about 10 minutes each. I have always used a “shedding blade” tool on my Lab and get handsful of hair. When the Furminator came out I had visions of getting out more hair in less time. That has not been the case for me. With the short comb teeth, I have to constantly clean out the comb, usually 2 or 3 sweeps and it’s full. After 10 minutes I really can’t say that the Furminator did any better, or as well as the shedding tool. In fact, the comb on the furminator feels a bit sharp to my dog, and I have to be very careful not to brush too aggressively, as I do with my other shedding tool, because my dog acts like it hurts her.

Love the book but with the new prices for the books on Kindle. ..I will not be adding them to my electronic book collection. Why the sudden increase in price? Honestly, if I can buy the paperback for cheaper I refuse to pay more for the electronic version!

However if you are looking for an excellent series, these are great books! I’m just going to keep my old fashioned set.

Look no further, I wanted to find more information about this watch and do some more extensive research before my purchase. Then I stumbled onto this blog by DC Rainmaker and I was sold! This review was the most informative review I found so far. I’ve had the watch for almost a month now and I love it and got exactly what I expected from the review. Great training device, and most importantly I think the watch makes the running that much more fun.
